"Share My Kingdom" Screening and Disparate Minds Presentation in Juneau

March 30, 2015

Andreana Donahue and Tim Ortiz, the creators of Disparate Minds, will be giving a presentation at the Goldtown Nickelodeon in Juneau, Alaska on Friday, April 3 at 6:00 pm.  This talk will include images of artwork from various studio visits, and make a case for the importance of these studios, not only as human service agencies, but also as vital contributors to fine art and american culture. This project presentation will be followed by a screening of Share My Kingdom, a documentary featuring the artwork of Harold Jeffries, Wayne Mazurek, and Luke Tauber, three artists who have emerged from Center for the Arts (Little City), a studio in Palatine, Illinois. This event is sponsored by The Canvas, a progressive art studio located in Juneau, Alaska. Andreana Donahue and Tim Ortiz are practicing fine artists who have spent the past several years as dedicated advocates for this population. This includes vocational/life skills training and art mentoring, but most significantly in co-managing and developing programming at a studio for eighty self-taught artists living with various disabilities in Nevada.
